Infrastructure Country Manager

We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company.

  •  High energy individual to help build the network that powers the world’s largest online services.
  • Lead project acquisition initiatives for cloud infrastructure network in Australia and New Zealand including metro, long haul, subsea and network colocation
  • Support our large-scale colocation efforts within Australia & New Zealand to ensure resiliency, diversity and quality uptime of our network services portfolio
  • Meet and exceed network expansion and cost reduction requirements
  • Apply domain expertise in Layer 1 technologies to help MSFT determine best path forward, acquire best capability with lowest project risk at market leading costs
  • Communicate the business and overall status via internal systems and executive review
  • Collaborate with internal business and networking technical teams to identify and define strategic initiatives necessary to meet Microsoft's ongoing needs for both expansion and cost reduction.
  • Build strategic relationships with vendors; Identify unique opportunities for partnership or expansion with these teams
  • Partner and ensure contracting compliance with service suppliers, legal team and physical security teams for continuous and consistent rigor ensuring contracts contain the correct SLA’s, indemnifications
  • Partner with the MSFT field sales & marketing organization to enable 360 degrees of interaction (sell to, sell with, buy from) with network suppliers and partners
  • Own the purchase orders that support network spend and purchase order planning year over year
  • Travel up to 40% of the time
  • BS or BA degree (In lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience)
  • Proven track record of landing large infrastructure builds on time and under budget
  • 6+ years of experience in networking technology commercials
  • Expert level domain and market knowledge of Australia and New Zealand domestic fiber providers and capability, subsea systems connectivity and Co-Location providers in/to both countries
  • Command of Australia and New Zealand’s network peering landscape
  • Demonstrated results in negotiations and/or business development obtaining services from high-technology providers in data center and Internet technologies – high degree of financial acumen planning and measuring investments across a variety of commercial models
  • Proven experience in contractual/MSA negotiations/SLA establishment across major Layer 1 network technologies
  • Proven ability to evaluate and drive large scale subsea investment opportunities
  • C Suite executive communication skills – verbal and written as applies internally and externally
  • Working knowledge of optical networking: Fiber optics and DWDM technologies, Open systems architectures
  • Demonstrated expertise with outside and inside fiber plant design and implementation
  • Proven ability to manage and mitigate time pressured or fault level escalations as needed with grace
  • Demonstrated expertise on turning demand signals into commercially actionable activity
  • Solid grasp and experience with workflow management
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including financial analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience owning and beating internal KPIs around quality, cost and time
  • Good PC skills, MS office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Organizational and time-management skills
