AMP has recently created a single wealth management business, AMP Australia (AMPA), to lead the development of our advice led wealth management strategy. AMPA is structured around two core businesses, AMPA Client Relationships (a business to client model) and AMPA Business Partnerships (a business to business model).

Purpose of the role

The main purpose of this role is to provide high quality financial planning advice to new and existing AMP Advice clients; and to generate and develop new business by identifying and working with potential clients through referral, networking and marketing channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality, technically strong advice to key client segments.
  • Prepare investment and strategic advice for clients in accordance with current legislative, industry and corporate professional standards.
  • Validate the underlying assumptions within clients’ plans and align their portfolio to ensure the achievement of the clients’ long-term financial objectives.
  • Ensure that recommendations are executed correctly.
  • Maintain client records by the use of standardised workflows, file notes and systems to ensure a consistently high standard of knowledge for each client that can be accessed by all team members.
  • Maintain the highest compliance standards to satisfy the legislative requirements, internal professional standards and the AMP Advice’s business rules.
  • Meet the minimum hours of required professional development training per annum - by attending both internally and externally-provided sessions (to ensure compliance with legislative, industry and corporate guidelines).
  • Grow new business in agreed target markets through various networking activities including managing and enhancing the relationships between AMP Advice and referral sources (including self developed sources)

Capabilities & Experience

  • Minimum two years experience providing personal advice to retail clients.
  • Must have been listed as “current” on ASIC Financial Adviser Register (FAR) either now and/or at any time between 1 Jan 2016 – 31 Dec 2018.
  • Sound technical advising knowledge to current legislative, industry and corporate standards
  • Sound relationship management skills
  • Registered with Tax Practitioner Board (TPB) Qualification/s and FASEA standards required

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualified in a FASEA relevant discipline (e.g. financial planning, accounting, economics, finance, law etc) is highly desirable
  • FASEA approved degree completed (preferred) or begun study towards FASEA approved degree (desired)
  • FASEA Financial Adviser Exam passed (preferred)
  • DFP qualification and CFP or FChFP designation
  • SMSF qualification is looked upon favourably
  • FASEA CPD compliant at previous/current employer
  • Current member of an ASIC approved compliance scheme
